New Mall in the T2 cargo area - Milan Malpensa Airport
The project involved the construction of a new “Mall” dedicated to high fashion in the area of Terminal T2 of Milan Malpensa Airport, through the redevelopment of an industrial complex of the early 1900s, located in the Cargo Area and partly abandoned. The redevelopment will involve the recovery of the part of the buildings that constitute the original nucleus of the complex and that are bearers of an architectural value typical of the industrial architecture of the last century through interventions of reinforcement of the existing structures and energy requalification. For the remaining part, demolition and reconstruction was envisaged with architectural and structural features compatible with the existing structure, thus using a structural system with pillars, beams and covering arches in c.a, and steel rods. The complex will incorporate the covering system with barrel vaults that will strongly characterize the building volume, and will present an external finishing in curtain having chromaticity and appearance typical of industrial buildings. The project included the arrangement of the outdoor areas, through the creation of equipped rest areas, and the access road to the new complex, with dedicated “kiss & ride” parking areas, and its connection with the main viability of the Terminal.
