New high-speed double track electrified railway line Oued Tlélat - Tlemcen - Algeria
The Oued Tlélat – Tlemcen high-speed railway line falls within a broader development plan of the Trans-Maghreb railway corridor, involving the railway lines of Algeria as well as those of Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Libya and Egypt. The project concerns a 132 km stretch of track which is part of the railway connection between the maritime city of Oran and the Moroccan border, characterised by a mix of passenger and freight traffic. The works entail the construction of 56 viaducts along the line, broken down into three categories: common, special and exceptional. The viaduct structures will all be made of a steel/concrete mix. The track’s superstructure requires the installation of UIC60 type rails on twin-block reinforced concrete sleepers with Nabla type fastening, above layers of ballast, sub-ballast and a protective compacted sand/gravel mix level known as “super-compact”. The project has also addressed architectonic and functional aspects relating to the construction/renovation of 4 stations: the station of Oued Tlélat (renovation); the station of Sidi Bel Abbes (new construction); the station of Sidi Lahcen (new staging area) and the station of Tlemcen (renovation/overall revisiting of functions and the construction of the new high-speed terminal).
